Using The Directory Records

As well as viewing your data in tables, Directory has a built-in tool that allows you to view any of it as Records.

For any of the Tabs in Solomon's Directory, you can access a built-in viewer to allow you to dig down into the Records you hold in your database.

In this article:

  • Opening a Record

  • Viewing a Record

  • Editing a Record

Opening a Record

You can open the Record by clicking the 'Expand' icon on any row within Directory. When a record opens you'll see an overview of that record and its relationships.

Viewing a Record

Once opened, you will see an overview of that particular Record. Whilst this varies for each 'type' of record, the formats remain the same.

On the left, you'll see the overview of that record, such as its name/title, any attributes it has (such as a vacant unit, debtor or voter contact) and then any key facts about the record.

On the right, you'll see a sequence of tabs that show the relationships that the record you're viewing has - such as any activities or projects that it has been linked to, any tags that have been defined or the collaborators that have created it.

On Businesses, You've also got a helpful 'History' tab which condenses everything you've delivered in relation to those businesses.

Editing A Record

You can edit a Record in a number of ways. Either the fields on that record or the relationships it has.

The main way is using the handy blue 'Edit' button - this unlocks all of the editable fields that each individual record holds (the left side) and you can edit these by clicking the field. Once you've done it, clicking the 'Save' button completes the Record and returns you to the viewer.

You'll notice on the right-hand side, either below the tab headers in the edit view, or on the main Record Viewer, you can 'Manage' the relationships it has.

Clicking the link here allows you to use the Solomon Selector to easily add other records as relationships - such as a Business or Person to an Activity, Tags to a Record or grouping Activities under Projects.
