Testing Your App with TestFlight

Before your app goes live, your team can try it on their own devices – and use it to show businesses what’s coming

Written by Heather Clamp

What is TestFlight?

TestFlight is Apple’s tool for trying out apps before they’re released. Once invited, your team can install a test version of your app on their iPhones that looks and works just like the real thing. Android testers receive access to a test version through Google Play.

Getting access

  1. Send your Customer Success Manager the names, email addresses and device types of everyone who’ll be testing

  2. Each tester receives an email invitation

  3. On iPhone: download the free TestFlight app from the App Store, open the email invitation, and tap install

  4. On Android: follow the link in the invitation to install the test version

What to test

  • Register an account and sign in

  • Complete the verification process, if your app has exclusive content

  • Browse businesses, deals and events - check the details, imagery and wording

  • Ensure you're happy with your apps appearance and configuration

  • Try loyalty schemes, trails and competitions, if they’re in your package

  • Tap through any links to make sure they go to the right place

Spotted something?

Brilliant - that’s exactly what testing is for! When you report an issue, include what you did, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, the device you were using, and a screenshot if you can. Send it over to your Customer Success Manager and we’ll get it looked at.

A great demo tool

Your test app is one of the best tools you have for engaging businesses before launch. Showing a business their future profile – live, on a phone, in their own venue – is far more persuasive than any leaflet. Take it with you on business visits!
