This is a great way to add an extra layer of engagement to your trail.
Participants visit each location to collect a letter, then piece them together to unscramble a secret word or phrase - ideal for scavenger hunts, town centre trails, or seasonal events.
Step 1: Open your trail
From your dashboard, navigate to Promote > Trails and open the trail you'd like to add the anagram challenge to.
Step 2: Open the Anagram settings
At the top of your trail location list, click Anagram. This will open the Anagram panel.
Step 3: Set your answer and completion message
In the Answer field, type the word or phrase you want participants to unscramble - for example, 'Happy'.
In the Completion Message field, write the message that will appear once a participant has successfully solved the anagram. This is a good place to congratulate them or direct them to a next step - for example: "Congratulations! You've uncovered the secret word! Now visit this business to collect your prize."
Click Done to save.
Step 4: Assign letters to your trail locations
Now you'll need to distribute each letter of your anagram word across your trail locations.
For each location:
Click on the location from the trail list.
Click the puzzle piece icon in the content editor.
Click the "?" field that appears under 'after check in content'.
Type in the letter you want to assign to that location.
Click Update to save.
Repeat this for every letter in your word, assigning one letter per location.
Step 5: Check all letters are assigned
As you work through your locations, keep an eye on the anagram display at the top of your trail list. Letters that have been successfully assigned will appear in green. Any letters still showing in red have not yet been assigned to a location.
Once all letters are showing green, your anagram challenge is live and ready for participants.
💡 Tip: Make sure you have enough active trail locations to cover every letter in your anagram word. If your word has five letters, you'll need at least five locations to assign them to.
