You can now create deep links to filtered lists of Deals, Events and Businesses based on their Categories - directly from the Vicinity Dashboard.

No more hunting down database IDs or manually constructing URLs!

What are Deep Links?

Deep links allow you to send users straight to a specific view inside the app - for example:

  • All food & drink deals

  • Events in a particular category

  • A list of businesses that belong to a specific category

They’re perfect for:

  • Embedding in articles within the app

  • Sharing on social media

  • Push notifications

  • QR codes and printed marketing

What’s Changed?

Previously, creating a category‑filtered deep link required:

  • Finding the database ID for the category

  • Manually inserting it into a URL

Not ideal.

Now 👉 the Dashboard does all of that for you.

You simply select what you want to link to, choose the category, and copy the generated deep link.

How to Create a Category‑Filtered Deep Link

Step 1: Click on Categories in the top bar of the dashboard

In the Dashboard, navigate to 'Categories'. Click the three dots to the right side of your selected category and then click 'generate deeplink'.

Step 2: Choose Your Content Type

Select what you want the link to open:

  • Deals

  • Events

  • Loyalty Schemes

This will copy the deeplink.

Step 3: Paste Your Deeplink

Paste the deeplink wherever you need - buttons, banners, articles, push notifications, or external links

When a user taps it, they’ll be taken directly to the filtered list inside the app.

Example Use Cases

  • A social media post linking to 'Food & Drink Deals'

  • A news article linking to 'Seasonal Events' only

  • A QR code on‑street linking to deals on 'Coffee and Cake'

  • A push notification saying 'New offers just landed' that opens a filtered deals list

Good to Know

  • If the app isn’t installed, users will be prompted to download it from their app store

  • Categories must already exist and be assigned to your content
