Trails are a great way to guide users around your place and encourage exploration. Whether you’re building a brand-new trail or making a quick update, you can easily add, remove, or amend trail locations directly from the dashboard.

This guide walks you through how to manage trail locations step by step.

How to manage locations on a trail

Access your trail

  1. Log in to your dashboard

Go to https://dashboard.getvicinity.com and log in with your usual details.

  2. Navigate to Trails

From the left-hand menu, click Promote, then select Trails from the top navigation.

  3. Open the trail you want to edit

Click on the title of the trail you’d like to update.

Removing a location from a trail

If a location is no longer needed, you can disable it in your dashboard.

  1. Select the location

Click on the location you’d like to amend. Its details will open on the right-hand side of the screen.

  2. Disable the location

Toggle the Disabled switch on to remove the location from the live trail.

  3. Save your changes

Click Update to apply the changes.

Disabling a location removes it from the trail without losing the content, so it can be re-enabled later if needed.

Adding a new location to a trail

  1. Add a location

With your trail open, click Add Location and type the address into the search bar.

  2. Search and select the address

Begin typing the location name or town, then select the correct address from the list.

  3. Drop the pin on the map

Click Drop Pin to place the location on the map.

Adding location details

  1. Add a location title

Enter a clear, short name for the trail location.

  2. Add a description

Use the description field to tell users what they’ll find at this stop on the trail.

  3. Add optional content

You can add additional content such as:

    • Text

    • URLs

    • Interactive check-ins

This content appears when users view the location in the app.

  4. Add an image

Upload an image or select one from your image library. Images help bring trail locations to life and make the trail more engaging for users.

Save the location

Create the location

Once you’re happy with the details, click Create to save the new location to your trail.

Tip 💡

You can add, remove, or reorder the trail locations on an ordered trail at any time - perfect for quick updates if plans change.
